What Doing Is An Action

Music Therapy what doing & what question videos & songs for special needs individuals.
Goal: Client will answer what doing questions with verbs and what questions with nouns.

WHAT DOING? is an action.
WHAT? is a thing.
WHAT DOING? is a verb.
WHAT? is a noun.

In the wide world of WH questions, the WHAT DOING? question is often underrepresented. This is understandable. “Doing” does not tend to directly follow “what” in a grammatically correct question. Questions of these type usually begin with “what” and end with “doing” with additional essential words in between:

What am I doing?
What are you doing?
What is he/she doing?

If your student is able to label nouns (What Is It?) and even answer questions with nouns when given the function of an item (What Do You Use?) then they may be ready to add verbs to their repertoire.

The project includes a total of 20 what doing? and 20 what? questions. These are separated into themes: chores, hobbies, hygiene, mealtime, and transportation. Each video contains four pictures which require first a what doing? answer and then a what? answer. There are two versions of each video, a regular version which sings the answers and a fill-in-the-blank version which allows the individual you are working with to answer. Also included are songs and printable flashcards, if that works better for your student. The ultimate goal is for clients to be able to answer what doing? and what? questions about novel pictures, books, current events, friends, family, and themselves.
