Music Therapy counting videos & songs for special needs individuals.
Goal: Client will determine whether 1 or 2 pictures are shown.
Domains: Academics, Math

Nominal numbers do not represent quantities. Examples of nominal numbers include a student’s bus route, address, and telephone number. The only math skill needed to work with nominal numbers is Number Identification.

Counting uses cardinal numbers. The math skill here is to understand that each number represents a quantity. This project is an introduction to cardinal numbers.

Each chorus (4 per video/song) sings and shows 1, then 2, then 1, then 2 instruments. Each verse (4 per video/song) shows either 1 or 2 instruments. In the regular videos/songs I sing the quantity. In the fill-in-the-blank videos/songs your student will need to sing the quantity.

There are a variety of videos with a variety of instrument pictures in a variety of quantities. You may want to start with the piano video which (during the verses) always shows 1 piano, then use the tuba video which (during the verses) always shows 2 tubas, before moving on to the guitar, drum, or violin videos which have a combination of 1 and 2 answers.

In addition to the videos, regular and fill-in-the-blank songs are also included. You can use these with the included flashcards, your own flashcards, or any objects of your choosing.
